nothing pre-exists the film: no script, no narrative, no plot, no decoupage, nor do the actors mimic a preconceived character. the film is made at the moment of it's making as are the performances and the characters. the films have no strict outside(the filming) nor inside(the representation). the film is itself, not a representation of something else the precedes it. in any case, the boundary between outside and inside, real and illusory, play and seriousness, freedom and constraint are vague and fluid. it is their going back and forth and what lies between them that is the .....magic and fascination.
